Part 4 of 5

Thor battles dinosaurs deep in the Savage Land! Guest-starring Ka-Zar! The Unbinding Stone unlocked, and the world on the brink of oblivion!

Released: February 1, 2012

Intro/Initial Thoughts:

With all the ups and downs this series has had so far it is a good thing that a month passes by between issues. It would feel too much like a hasty roller-coaster if it was released at any faster a cadence. This issue remains "up" in ratings, so we will see how it all ends up next month...

Editor review

Picking up where the last issue left off, Thor and Phastos head off to find Antarctic vibranium as part of their promise to repair the resurrection chamber for the Deviants, who in turn promise to release Karkas and Ransak. Not to enter the action/adventure too soon, the story begins with a flashback which includes information on Phastos' background, ongoing torment, and his time as a human. This part of the story seemed a little out of place, other than as some character development and possibly setting him up as "more human than god or eternal".

After this introduction, we see Thor and Phastos getting on with the task at hand. Though there were some arguments and side-trips, they finally arrive in the Savage Land, only to be confronted by yet another unexpected obstacle. The obstacle gives them a dinosaur of a problem, but in the end, with a little help from a friend, they accomplish their goal and head back to Lemuria.

As far as side stories are concerned, Ereshkigal continues to struggle with the Unbinding Stone while getting unwanted help from Kro, Karkas and Ransak are still being forced to fight with each other, and the issue ends with the introduction and cliffhanger of the final plot twist/development. With one issue to wrap things up, we have quite a few strings to tie - it will be interesting to see if this five-issue arc is worth the twenty dollar investment...

NOTE: This is a part 4 of 5, so not the best jumping on point if you are simply looking to start here. I would recommend finding and reading the previous three issues before reading this one.
