Intro/Initial Thoughts:

In this, the finale of the Major League Chew arc, it is all about Amelia and her quest to find Tony. Someone that has not only been missing from her life, but from the majority of the pages within this arc of Chew. Obviously he makes an appearance in this issue, a very unforgettable appearance, in fact. But again, this issue is not about Tony, it is about Amelia, her character, her resolve and her skills - doing it all for the man she loves. It is a fantastic and gruesome love story that only Chew could tell.

As wonderful as the Amelia and Tony story is, another "budding relationship" takes on the first and last pages of this issue. We all know what lengths Colby would go to for his job, but never have they amounted to more than a single page depicting post-lengths activities. This time we get nearly three full pages of Colby's "on-the-job-training" - and it ain't pretty. In the end, he kind of gets what he wants - a new partner. Unfortunately for him it wasn't exactly who he was expecting, though from the smile on his face he doesn't appear too upset about his assignment. Nor will be the reader - it is just another great series tie-in, and excellent lead-in to the next arc of Chew.

Editor review

Story: 5.0 / 5.0

What the mighty Layman does for comics is what Homer did for Greek mythology.

Epic. Poetic. Perfect.

Each one of the issues within this series builds on the last and makes room for the next. The fact that there is a panel devoted to how much Applebee STILL hates Tony at the supposed series end, just goes to show you that not only are we in for a wild ride for the next 35 issues, but a meticulously planned wild ride. Also, take note, they managed to fit nearly the entire cast of the known Chewniverse into this one issue.

Cover Art: 5.0 / 5.0

Beautifully colored and imaginatively drawn to symbolically depict the interior story line. The thousand words that our favorite creative team has chosen for the cover to speak not only fit the theme of the series but capture the essence of the Major League Chew arc perfectly. Seriously, if a gallsaberry filled voodoo doll pinata Tony doesn't scream series and arc tie-in, then what does? :)

Art: 5.0 / 5.0

When it comes to Rob!, there are no faults. He has defined the series with a style all his own. He generates an insane amount of detail for each panel - enhancing the brilliant and mighty Layman's recipe into a smorgasbord of unquestionable beauty. Even the gross and morose look good under Rob!'s pen. So many people who would normally be horribly offended by the concepts within the pages of Chew have turned the other cheek in admiration of its artful depiction. This issue simply adds to the giant pot of awesome that has been simmering since Chew #1.

Overall: 5.0 / 5.0

Chew + Jay & Silent Bob = 5.0. In fact, anything that can mash up two of my favorite things gets a 5.0 from me. The two page splash in the middle of this book does more for pop culture than any Twitter trend could muster.

I would never actually need another excuse to pick up an issue of Chew, but this one was especially near and dear to my heart - my letter to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. was published (http://thanosrules.tumblr.com/post/20528603992/letters-at-chewcomic-sebastian-and-napa). Ahhh... Satisfaction.

All this, AND the issue was a skilled end to the Major League Chew arc. What more can you ask for? Well besides issue 26...on to Space Cakes! (or that is what last year's issue 27 would have us believe).
