Beautiful, emotional, intense. Those are the first three words coming to my mind when I think about the writing of Batman and Robin #6. The emphasis he puts on the relationship between Bruce and Damian, the enthralling story of Nobody, which serves as a framing for the emotional rollercoaster ride that is this family tale, the imagery Tomasi uses and that is perfectly converted into actual pictures by Gleason. All of this makes the story of Batman and Robin #6 stand out in comparison to a lot of other current DC titles.

And even the most stubborn Damian haters are now forced to admit that maybe this child is not as inherently twisted and evil as they made him out to be.

I used to be rather bitter about the breakup of Dick and Damian as the Dynamic Duo. I was concerned about how Bruce and Damian would work, if they could even work. Tomasi dispelled any concerns I had and showed me that this father and son duo can work. Not quite as a team yet, but definitely in one book together.

My only (minor) complaints? I thought Damian’s actions were a tad bit predictable, and the impact of Nobody’s revelations could have been much more powerful if we had not seen the truth behind Bruce and Ducard’s shared past before.

The Art: 5 out of 5

Terrific! Gleason and Tomasi are really a match made in heaven and the intensity of the writing reaches a whole new level of magnificence in combination with Gleason’s, Gray's and Kalisz' artwork. Gleason's strong lines in combination with the bold use of ink from Gray and the diversity in the character designs all add to this already superb title.

The clever reference to the scene from issue #3 where we see Damian beating up a thug is a little stroke of genius, and I was thoroughly impressed once I noted the resemblance.

The Cover: 3.5 out of 5

What a nice tribute to the cover of Frank Miller’s the Dark Knight Returns. Clever as always and nicely executed from a technical point of view, but a bit boring in regards to composition. Beyond that, the cover is - like many other DC cover for different titles as well - somehow misleading, since there is no actually confrontation of Batman and Robin, at least not in the physical sense.
